Position Summary

As a Mechanical Process Lead you will be responsible for designing, implementing, controlling and optimizing manufacturing processes as well as designing innovative processes and equipment.  You will also be involved in the modification and optimization of existing equipment and processes. 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Assist Project Engineering/Project Management with initial project scoping 
  • Responsible for the initial phases of tool engineering, including a determination of the complete tooling required, cost estimating and obtaining competitive bids from vendors 
  • Write detailed tooling specifications for various types of production tooling, single point tooling, fixtures and complex systems 
  • Based on specifications, determine which manufacturing operations will be performed and in what sequence 
  • Develop plant layouts for placement and arrangement of machinery and equipment 
  • Determine for each operation the number and kind of machine tools used, including fixtures and gauges 
  • Engage in the initial phases of quality engineering and determine quality control methods, procedures and techniques to control and improve product quality 
  • Develops process engineering scope, design basis and requirements for the design, control and operation of a process within the trim shop 
  • Provide manufacturing support to address downtime issues 
  • Works with cross-functional teams to help integrate new equipment or process into the plant

What You’ll Bring: 

  • 5+ years of experience working with mechanical design software (i.e.; Team Center / VisMockup, NX and/or AutoCAD) 
  • Prior tool process and design experience 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline preferred 
  • Experience working with Factory CAD preferred 
  • Prior experience developing manufacturing processes in a trim shop preferred 

Skills You’ll Have: 

  • Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills 
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office programs 
  • Ability to analyze data and processes, and recommend solutions to enhance productivity and/or efficiencies 
  • Advanced knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes, including machining techniques 
  • Strong knowledge of costing items for manufacturing Ability to lead a team in tool development processes 

Other Details: 

  • The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 lbs. with or without accommodation.  
  • Travel by car and/or plane to company facilities or to customer/supplier locations may be required 
  • Evening and overnight work may also be required 
  • The position may require extended hours during the workday as well as weekend work
