Position Summary

Position Title: Materials / Inventory Coordinator

Classification: Salary, Exempt

Reporting to: General Manager

The Materials / Inventory Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring incoming and outgoing products through the manufacturing cycle. This position manages the flow of inventory and ensures products are properly shipped to customers.

Essential Functions:

  • Works closely with Project Managers, Engineering, Manufacturing and other internal and external resources to maintain the appropriate inventory levels on various programs
  • Maintains capacity plans and weekly manufacturing schedules to ensure the efficient delivery of inventory to maintain the build timeline; ensures outgoing delivery expectations are met
  • Monitors and proactively addresses issues by interfacing with supply chain, manufacturing and customer program management; reschedules production in the event of design/processing changes, labor and material shortages, backlogs, and other potential interruptions; escalates issues to management as needed
  • Determines cost responsibility based on agreements or negotiations with manufacturing or the customer; processes chargebacks to suppliers for costs that are not Esys’ responsibility
  • Tracks shipments to ensure incoming and outgoing deadlines are met
  • Participates in project meetings as required
  • Reviews reports, such as inventory balance, inventory usage, min/max levels, and forecasting
  • Computes amount of material required to complete job orders, applying knowledge of product and manufacturing processes
  • Assist with cycle counts to evaluate inventory levels as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Bill of Material (BOM) structures
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
  • Proficiency with ERP systems
  • Ability to interact professionally with suppliers and customers, and maintain a positive working relationship, which at times may be under difficult circumstances and/or high-pressure situations
  • Ability to engage with all areas of the organization, including Engineering, Project Management, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing
  • Ability and willingness to learn about new products and programs quickly and effectively to meet delivery deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, organizing and prioritizing tasks, making appropriate decisions, and comfortable in a setting where priorities change daily
  • Ability to work onsite within the Esys offices or at supplier and/or customer locations as required

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in production planning, scheduling, or materials/supply chain management

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in business, supply chain, or a related field
  • Prior experience within a build assembly environment
  • Familiar with vehicle componentry

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • None

Work Environment:

  • Will operate in both a professional office environment and a manufacturing environment
  • Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, scanners, plotters, printers and fax machines
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • May be expected to work on a manufacturing shop floor:
    • May involve exposure to hazards
    • Work surfaces may be slippery, unstable or uneven
    • Shop temperatures may not always be controlled and could vary from hot to cold
    • May work in areas where ear, eye, and/or foot protection is required

Physical Demands:

  • Required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs, balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell
  • The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities require the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
  • Travel by car to company facilities or to customer locations may be required

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

  • The Materials / Inventory Coordinator is a full-time position
  • Days of work are typically Monday through Friday; extended hours and weekend work may be required depending on the project

Travel:

  • Travel to other Esys/JR locations, customers and/or suppliers may be required
